Short answer: Verified Tools re-checked the 15 directory badges it was displaying on 2026-08-28. Eight still returned a visible dofollow link. Two had quietly switched to rel="nofollow" and one listing had vanished while our badge stayed up on their behalf — so we removed those three. Choose directories on whether the link still exists, not on the DR they advertise.

Method: each listing page opened in a headless browser, reading the link's rel attribute and confirming it actually renders. Checked 2026-08-28.

If you're looking to gain visibility for your SaaS, AI tool, or startup, submitting to high-authority directories is one of the most effective organic growth strategies. Below is a breakdown of five reputable directories

1. twelve.tools (DR 78)

12 tools is a very high domain rating directory and it shows 12 tools a day which make people focus on your product better. Just by embedding its badge on your website, dofollow backlink is yours!

2. Turbo0 (DR 75)

Correction, 2026-08-28: this entry used to say a badge embed earns a dofollow link from Turbo0. It no longer does. Our listing there now carries rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer", so the badge trade still gets you a listing and an audience, but no ranking signal. LaunchIgniter made the same change (rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc"). Both were caught by re-checking, not by any notice from the directories. Looks like they are focusing on community so it would be good to try out the blog feature because it's effective for actual user traffic.

3. TinyLaunch (DR 60)

What we measured (2026-08-28)

A directory list is easy to write and hard to keep true. These are the numbers behind the advice above, all from our own checks on the same day.

Free is not one thing. Queue times differ by 39 weeks. Verified Tools submitted to both on 2026-08-28 through their free tiers. Smol Launch placed us in the week of 2026-10-12 with 180 products ahead. LaunchBoosts placed us in the week of 2027-07-12 with 697 ahead. Same effort, same price, and roughly ten months between the two dates. Ask for the queue position before you spend an afternoon on a submission.

The badge trade decays silently. Of the 15 directory badges our footer carried that morning, 8 still returned a visible dofollow link. Two had turned nofollow. One — Fazier — returns HTTP 200 on our launch URL but renders the generic homepage, so the listing is gone while we were still displaying their badge on every page we serve. Nobody sent a notice in any of the three cases; we found them by looking. All three badges came down the same day.

Which directories AI engines actually cite. On 2026-08-28 we asked 10 directory-discovery questions ("what directories should I submit my AI tool to?", "best AI tools directory 2026", and eight more) across five engines — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews — and recorded every source cited.
