Why does my photo come out looking blobby?
Because tracing works by finding areas of flat colour and wrapping them in paths. Logos, icons, and lettering — a handful of solid colours with clean edges — vectorize beautifully. Photographs and gradients don't have flat areas, so any tracer (including paid ones) turns them into mush. This tool is honest about being for logos.
How many colors should I pick?
Start with the number of colours actually in the logo — most logos are 2 to 8. Fewer colours produce fewer, cleaner paths and a smaller file; more colours capture subtle shades but multiply the path count. You can re-trace at any setting instantly since it all happens locally.
What's the difference between PNG and SVG?
A PNG stores pixels, so it blurs when scaled up. An SVG stores shapes as math, so it stays sharp at any size — that's why print shops, laser cutters, and design tools ask for vector files. Converting recovers those shapes from the pixels.
