How is this different from a backlink exchange?
There are no direct swaps. When you place a link to another member's site you earn your own tier's credits — the link sits on your domain, so your authority is what it's worth. You spend those credits to receive a link from a different member, paying that member's tier. Never the site you linked to. Links stay editorial and one-directional.
How are link placements verified?
Our crawler checks every placement: the exact link must be live, dofollow, and on an indexable page. Placements are re-checked every few days — if a link is removed, the credits are automatically reversed and both parties are notified.
How are credits calculated?
Every site sits in a tier based on its Domain Rating, and a link is worth its tier's credits: Tier 1 (DR 0-9) 10 credits, Tier 2 (DR 10-24) 20, Tier 3 (DR 25-39) 40, Tier 4 (DR 40-59) 70, Tier 5 (DR 60+) 120. Place a link and you earn your tier's credits; receive one and you pay the other site's. So one placement always pays for one link from a site in your own tier — link to a peer, get a link from a peer — and reaching a higher tier just takes more placements. Tiers are used instead of raw DR so your earnings don't change every time Ahrefs nudges your score. Every member earns; there is no minimum DR. Is it free?
The core exchange is free. Your welcome bonus is your own tier's worth of credits (floor of 20; a Tier 4 site gets 70), and it lands as soon as your profile is approved, so you can receive your first link before you've placed one. These are early-member terms while the exchange is getting going: once it's busier, the bonus will go back to unlocking on your first verified placement instead. Credits already issued are never taken back, so joining now is the better side of that change. A paid plan with unlimited active exchanges, DR filters, and link-loss alerts is planned.
